S-TWIN - The auditory digital twin of a cochlear implant: framework requirements for immersive sonic interactions with children
Abstract
With the miniaturization of wearable technologies, cochlear implants have become the most effective aid for compensating profound deafness in children. The success of pediatric implants depends on a personalized auditory rehabilitation plan. This project will investigate the technological mediation of cochlear implants in orienting specific attention to the identification and localization of environmental sounds, to support the design of an auditory digital twin of the symbiotic relationship between child and implant. Children will be caregiven to interact with their auditory digital twins establishing an intelligent participatory virtual environment.
