INDACO - Incorporating Nonadditivity and nonlinearity within the Dietary patterns And Cancer risk association: statistics and machine learning to create novel research Opportunities from dietary assessment to cancer prediction
Abstract
Among the various risk factors for cancer, diet have the main objectives of prevention programs although several limitations of nutritional epidemiology may contribute to a reduced ability to accurately identify its effects. The INDACO project is aimed at using novel statistical and machine learning (ML) approaches to exploring the association between dietary patterns and cancer risk; evaluating the identified cancer risk prediction/classification models using new and old data; exploring the potential of ML approaches in a novel image-based dietary assessment tool; validating results from ML based image approach versus a pilot study based of a new food images and recipes, and nutrient intakes.
