SCribes and notaRIes in Byzantine Oxyrhynchus (SCRIBO)
Abstract
This project aims at studying for the first time in a systematic way notarial documents written in the Oxyrhynchite between the Vth and the VIIth cent. The data will be entered into a database which shall contain easily searchable information about the scribes and notaries. Moreover, a digital tool will be constructed and allow for the first time fast and reliable comparisons of handwritings. The results of the research will be disseminated not only among scholars and specialists of the ancient world but also to the broader public during a digital exhibit.
