SMARTsports - Statistical Models and AlgoRiThms in sports. Applications in professional and amateur contexts, with able-bodied and disabled athletes.
Abstract
The SMARTsports project is designed to put together a wide range of expertise in the fields of statistical modelling, multivariate data analysis, statistical learning and algorithmic modelling applied to sports analytics and sport psychometrics, with analyses carried out in professional and amateur contexts, with able-bodied and disabled athletes. The main aims of the project are (1) to create an open infrastructure to share a large amount of sports data, codes and procedures for data treatment, manipulation and analysis; (2) to develop new methods and smart tools for performance analysis, identification of success factors and optimal game strategies, forecasting results, assessment of athletes’ psychological features and their relationship with sport performance especially with reference to sport practice outcomes in well-being of disabled people; (3) to disseminate ideas, findings and results with academics, institutions, sports clubs and public. The project’s deliverables are expected to have high scientific, technological, economic, and social impact.
