Obiettivi formativi specifici

Il corso si suddivide in:
Ascolto e lettura: comprendere frasi semplici;
Lettura: comprendere testi in cui sia usata la lingua quotidiana e relativa al mondo del lavoro; riconoscere la struttura di un testo in originale;
Produzione orale: interagire in conversazioni riguardanti il vissuto personale e sociale, descrivere esperienze e comunicare un serie di informazioni di argomento personale e/o lavorativo;
Produzione scritta: compilare moduli con informazioni personali, prendere appunti in un contesto specifico, scrivere lettere di carattere informale e formale, produrre un semplice testo seguendo un modello già fornito.

Finalità

Students will have the opportunity to gain knowledge and understanding of a range of core topics in English and British Studies.

Contenuti

The programme focuses initially on aspects of the history of English and on current varieties of the language in Britain. This will be followed by study which is concerned broadly with aspects of British culture between about 500 and 2000 AD.

Competenze acquisite

Students who follow the programme will:
• develop critical awareness of areas of English Studies
• acquire specialist knowledge of British culture and awareness of the interaction of British and other English-speaking cultures in the contemporary context
• gain familiarity with key words and concepts in British culture.

Modalità d'esame

(6 credits)
Students will be assessed by an oral exam in English on the core topics discussed at lectures and on the course texts.
