Objectives

To give the student basical notions of inorganic chemistry (chemical properties of the elements according to their position in the Periodic Table) and of organic chemistry (classification, structure and chemical properties of functional groups).

Acquired skills

- Being able to link chemical properties of the elements to their electronic structure.
- Being able to evaluate chemical reactivity of most common compounds.
- Understanding nomenclature in organic chemistry and predicting reactivities of the main functional groups.
