Objectives

The course covers the fundamentals and the practices of Business Organization. Starting from the evolution of organizational thinking and its theories, are presented the most salient aspects of organizational design (structures, organs, roles, functions, etc.), the configurations and the organizational coordination. Are defined the concepts of the process organization and explained the major business processes (divided between processes of Operations and Change Management). A company is considered as a set of tangible or intangible resources, and emphasized the importance of Human Resources Management (HRM) and the performance measurement systems (Balanced Scorecard). Covers the principles, techniques and tools of Lean enterprise, considered the greatest organizational revolution after the tayloristic-fordism system.

Lectures and exercises (Topics and specific content)

The firm: firm, enterprise, company; relations firm-environment, the markets (production, labor, sales, capital), the environment (economic, political-legislative, social and cultural) (4 hours).
Elements of business organization: the organizational structure, members of staff and line, hierarchical relationships and functional, formal and informal structures, types of responsibility and delegation, communication, management of meetings, the reporting (8 hours).
Evolution of the organizational thinking: the paleoindustrial model, Taylorism, the school of human relations, the systemic view, lean manufacturing (4 hours).
Organizational design: the organizational design, organizational structure, types of structure (functional, divisional, matrix), organizational pathologies; the organizational coordination, coordination methods (6 hours).
The organization and its environment: hypothesis of direct link; differentiation and integration; assumptions of indirect binding, the role of the strategy, the role of technology, the role of the stage of development of the company (4 hours).
Assessment of the economic convenience in the processes of restructuring: methods and exercises for the evaluation of investment (2 hours).
Organizational processes and management-by-processes: Business Process Reengineering, internal customer and process ownership, work by objectives, leadership and teamwork, Operations processes, Change processes, processes of Support (6 hours).
Project organization: work by projects, matrix organization for projects, the role of the Project Manager, the PMO (2 hours).
Human resource management (HRM): labor law and industrial relations, organizational development; assessment of human resources, the position, the person, the performance; assignment objectives, compensation (6 hours).
Human resources and intangible assets evaluation: evaluation of the intellectual capital: human, organizational, and relational; performance of processes and business improvement project-based (4 hours).
Lean organization: Lean Enterprise, principles and techniques; the VSM, the fight against waste; Kaizen; Applications of Lean Management and Lean Office (8 hours).
Exercises (6 hours).
