Objectives
The aim of the course is to give the mathematical techniques which are used by Electronic/Managerial Engineers using Fourier series, complex analysis and transforms.
Acquired skills
- Acquisition of Fourier series.
- Applying residue theorem, in particular to real integration.
- Calculating integral transforms and inverse transforms; applications to ordinary differential equations.
Lectures and exercises (topics and specific content)
Fourier series: pointwise and uniform convergence, differentiation of Fourier series, Parseval's equality, an outline of Fourier series in L2 (10 hours).
Complex Analysis: analytic functions, elementary functions, residue theorem and applications to real integration (7 hours).
Fourier transform: rules, the transform of convolution, the inverse transform, application to ordinary differential equations (7 hours).
Laplace transform: rules, the transform of convolution, the inverse transform, applications to ordinary differential equations (6 hours).
Exercises (8 hours).
