Training Project

The training offer of the PhD Course in Law for Innovation in the European Legal Area, Cycle XLI, is structured on two curricula, flanked by a common training path supporting research. A legal education of excellence, oriented to the insertion of doctoral students both in the world of scientific research and in the practical-professional one, in fact, cannot be founded only on highly specific and sectorial learning, but must also aim at transmitting to the students an apparatus of critical analysis of the legal problems that characterise the current context.

The PhD student's training project consists of

a) in the development, under the guidance of the Supervisor, of an individual research programme referring to a specific disciplinary field among those on which the Course is focused;

b) attendance of teaching activities at doctoral level complementary to the research not less than 30 CFU. The recognition of CFUs, which may be acquired by attending lectures and other educational activities, is carried out by the Board of Teachers, which authorises attendance and assesses the results. Teaching activities, which may also be organised jointly among several Courses, also include training activities aimed at supporting research activities and at providing tools to outline the professional identity of future PhDs.

In particular:

At least 9 CFU
by attending (and passing, if any, the final exams) four specialised courses of a general nature and in the relevant area and discipline, chosen from those scheduled annually by the Board of teachers of the PhD course.

At least 10 CFU
by attending (and passing any final examinations) transversal courses/seminars, chosen from those scheduled annually by the Research Training Office or by other Bodies, Associations and Universities, in the areas of Research, Digital, Communication, Career Development. The EAP course (Mobility area, 5 CFU) is compulsory without prejudice to the possibility for doctoral students to ask the Teaching Board for a justified exemption.

  • At least 11 CFU
    with participation in seminars and conferences organised at the two affiliated venues, or by other organisations, associations and universities.

    The individual research programme concludes with the writing of the thesis.
    The thesis, written in Italian or English, must contribute to the advancement of knowledge or methodologies in the chosen field of investigation.

The Board of Teachers annually assesses the training and research activities carried out by individual doctoral students for the purposes of admission to the following year and to the thesis assessment stage.

The Board of Lecturers provides for the correspondence of one credit to 7 hours of frontal teaching (lectures, seminars, conferences) and the commitment of at least 30 CFUs is required within the three-year period in accordance with Art. 5, paragraph 2, letter b) for the activities offered at the Doctoral Course venue
