Within the setting of the rules, the activities developed can be divided as follows. a) Pre-normative activities: development of new analysis methods or modification of existing methods. Purpose of the activity: evaluation of the validity and reliability of the subject to be standardised. b) Co-normative activities: validation and standardization of methods developed in the pre-normative phase. Purpose: evaluation of the performances of the methods, evaluation of repeatability, reproducibility, measurement uncertainty of methods and procedures which will become international standards/norms/regulations. c) Laws and regulations: harmonization. Purpose: presentation of the methods/standards developed for possible approval by the different competent authorities (EU, Codex Alimentarius, various supranational technical bodies, e.g. International Olive Council.  

Research subjects

  • Sviluppo di metodi analitici basati su tecniche separative: validazione “in home” del metodo: valutazione di recupero (quando applicabile), linearità di risposta, ripetibilità, LOD e LOQ.
  • Metodi applicabili alla misurazione del contenuto assoluto e percentuale di componenti maggioritari quali i trigliceridi e minori, quali quello dalla frazione insaponificabile: steroli, tocoferoli, sostanze fenoliche.
  • Determinazione quali quantitativa della frazione volatile sia di oli e grassi al quali, sia della frazione lipidica presente in altri alimenti.
