Uniud for spreading the values of inclusiveness - the first two volumes of the Diversa-mente series

"FIGHTING DISCRIMINATION. PRINCIPLES AND RULES FOR AN INCLUSIVE SOCIETY" and "GENRE OR GENRES? THIS IS THE QUESTION... LINGUISTIC ADVICES FOR A CAREFUL AND INFORMED USE OF THE ITALIAN LANGUAGE

These are the titles of the first two volumes in paperback format of the series designed and produced by the University of Udine, Diversa-Mente, to spread the values of inclusiveness that inspire the University.

The initiative, conceived by the "Uniud Inclusiva" project, carried out by the University's Equal Opportunities Committee (CUG) in collaboration with Forum, is part of the latter actions in order to spread the culture of respect against all type of discrimination and violence. Precisely for this reason it was decided to donate these first volumes of the collection to all university students as a tangible sign of the University's commitment to interdisciplinary training and soft skills.

The Diversa-Mente collection, as explained by Prof. Valeria Fili', President of the CUG, aims to provide to all the student community, information, ideas and perspectives useful for understanding and deciphering an increasingly complex and changing world, open to diversity. This attention to diversity explains how these, and the volumes that will follow, will be available not only in paperback format, but also in pdf freely downloadable from the Forum website and in an audio book version, in advance implementation of the European Accessibility Act.

The first volume “Fighting discrimination. Principles and rules for an inclusive society”, written by Francesco Bilotta and Anna Zilli, proposes, as the authors explain, to disseminate the basic notions of anti-discrimination law in a simple and accessible way in order to increase the awareness of everyone about these still strongly present phenomena that must be fought effectively.

The second volume "Genre or Genres, this is the question...linguistic advices for a careful and informed use of the Italian language" wants to solicit, as explained by the author, some food for thought, on the use of the feminine in the Italian language and indicate a series of suggestions aimed at ensuring a drafting and revision of the texts in terms of communicative effectiveness. Nowadays, despite the visible changes that our
society is going through, one can wonders why it is still difficult to overcome the resistance and define the women who cover those roles until recently reserved for men as a lawyer and engineer? Yet, teacher and nurse, while carrying out the same job, distinguish women from men.

The scientific committee of the collection involves all the departments of the University and professors of different disciplines.
In addition to Prof. Fili' herself, it includes: Francesco Bilotta, Luca Chittaro, Christina Conti, Claudia Di Sciacca, Maria Cristina Nicoli, Laura Pagani, Alvisa Palese and Francesco Pitassio.
