Archeology and cultures of antiquity
Educational objectives
The Master's in Antiquities is held jointly by the Universities of Udine and Trieste. It will give you an in-depth critical knowledge of history and culture of the ancient civilizations of the Mediterranean and Middle Eastern areas. It also includes a foreign European language, IT and computerized communication. There are two different curricula: Archaeological and Historical.
With a Master's in Classics, you can work in research in classics and archeology, or as a consultant in public and private structures and agencies (cultural heritage boards, museums, libraries, cultural centers, foundations, public bodies), in cultural promotion and production (bodies that organize exhibitions and events, popular and specialized publishing, advertising, cultural journalism), and also in teaching.
Professional opportunities
The interdisciplinary Magister degree course in Classics prepares its students for professional roles with the following occupational prospects:
- research in the field of classics and archeology, in particular by undertaking further studies at a higher level (research doctorate, specialization school), with the possibility of finding employment within universities, research centers and similar bodies, both private and public, after having passed the relative selection processes;
- high responsibility positions, either as a consultant or other independent professional, or within public and private structures and agencies that operate in the field of conservation and enhancement of the cultural heritage (cultural heritage boards, museums, libraries, cultural centers, foundations, public bodies), in cultural promotion and production (bodies that organize exhibitions and events, popular and specialized publishing, advertising, cultural journalism);
- training and teaching, with employment prospects in public and private schools, after having acquired the necessary qualifications and/or passed the relative exams established by the regulations in force.
Lastly, the cultural, cognitive and communication skills acquired can offer graduates opportunities in high level roles in the fields of marketing, human resources management, public relations and administration, both in the public and the private sector.
