Management Engineering
The Master's Degree in Management Engineering aims to train graduates able to identify, formulate and solve complex and interdisciplinary problems, able to manage production and logistics systems, information technologies and methodologies of economic analysis and management, and organization of business systems.
The course includes two curricula, one entirely taught in English (Management Engineering curriculum) and the other one mainly in Italian with some courses in English (Ingegneria Gestionale curriculum).
The Ingegneria Gestionale curriculum has 5 alternative specializations: "Advanced Manufacturing", "Industrial Management" and “Environmental Sustainability” in the industrial area, "Digital Business and Analytics" and "Information & Communication Technology" in the information engineering area. In addition, there is the possibility to undertake the track that leads to the double degree with the Austrian Universities of Graz or Klagenfurt.
Selection rules for students with foreign qualifications
The international master program has 20 slots per academic year. The selection of interested students is based on their CV and will be closed once the maximum number of available slots will be reached.
Interested students must hold a relevant bachelor’s degree, that is obtained within the last five years, with a major in Industrial Engineering or in IT Engineering. The bachelor’s degree final mark must not be less than 90/110 for an Italian degree or not less than 3/4 of the maximum possible for an equivalent foreign degree. At least an upper-intermediate proficiency level of English, corresponding to the B2 Level of the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR), is required.
Courses will start at the end of September and students must already be in Udine by that time. Therefore, it is important for students to organise in advance travel details and accommodation solution (including VISA requirements for non-EU members).

Educational objectives
You will study, among other things, how to control variables (quality, time, costs and use of resources), with particular reference to engineering-to-order, marketing problems connected to the commercialization of industrial and instrumental goods, and the fundamental elements of strategic planning. You will also study the basic principles of organization and governance of complex systems, such as socio-technical Company systems, the fundamental concepts and methodologies concerning databases and systems to manage them, aspects of architecture, internal and external integration, costs and benefits of Company information systems.
The Course is connected to an international program organized by the University of Udine and the Fachhochschule (FH) JOANNEUM – University of Applied Science in Graz, Austria. According to the agreement, students of each University receive a minimum number of credits by attending core courses and similar taught by the other University.
The typical professions for graduates are in innovation and development of production, advanced design and planning, management of complex systems both as freelance and in manufacturing industries or services and in public administration. Master's graduates will find employment at manufacturing enterprises, service enterprises and public administrations for supplying and managing materials, logistics, project management and management control, analysis of industrial sectors, assessment of investments, industrial marketing etc.

The management engineer is able to effectively apply the principles of configuring and adjusting production and logistic systems, information technologies and the methods of economic analysis and management to solving the problems of the organization and operating management of Company systems.

Magister graduates will find employment at manufacturing enterprises, service enterprises and public administrations for supplying and managing materials, Company organization and production, organization and automation of production systems, logistics, project management and management control, analysis of industrial sectors, assessment of investments, industrial marketing etc.
Since the Course began, the job market has welcomed the figure of the Management Engineer with considerable interest. Systematic surveys made on placement times and professional destinations of new graduates confirm that the Management Engineer is in great demand, among the first on the list. In particular, a recent ISTAT survey puts Management Engineering in first place in the classification for career prospects (assessed on the average waiting time for the first job, and on the percentage of graduates employed at 3 months and 3 years from the degree). In the same way, AlmaLaurea surveys on graduate employment also show that the monthly salary of Management Engineers is the highest among the different types of engineer. The main fields of employment of the members are: mechanical, services, building, textile, electronic. For some years now, some third sector fields, such as insurance, have also shown interest in the Management Engineer.
