The student shall be able to:
- recognize the importance of innovation and of its management in today’s economic and technological scenario
- recognize what are the main constituents of an innovation strategy
- describe what are the main organizational antecedents of innovation
- recognize what are the main innovation sources
- describe and to manage the process of ideas selection

Skills related to the discipline

Conoscenza e comprensione: students are expected to develop a deep understanding about how firms should manage innovation-related activities at the strategic, organizational and managerial levels, inside and outside the firm’s boundaries, in order to increase their likelihood to remain competitive in a fast changing economic and technological scenario.

Capacità di applicare conoscenza e comprensione: students must be able to apply the knowledge acquired in class to their working life

Soft skills

Autonomia di giudizio: students should be develop the ability to understand which organizational solutions and managerial processes could be effectively (or not) able applied to a specific firm in order to increase its innovation capability

Abilità comunicative: students should develop the ability to describe what are the main organizational solutions and managerial practices aimed at increasing the innovation capability of the firm

Capacità di apprendimento: students should be able to learn what are the most diffused and effective organizational solutions and managerial strategies aimed at increasing the innovation capability of the firm

Programma e contenuti dell’insegnamento/Course description

After clarifying what innovation is and why it is so important for the firm’s competitiveness, the course will focus on three main aspects: the innovation strategy; the organizational antecedents of innovation and the innovation management process.

Attività di apprendimento e metodi didattici previsti/Teaching and Learning activities

A sound mix frontal lessons, case studies, group discussions and a project work.

Modalità di verifica dell’apprendimento/Examination

The final grade is determined according to the following:
- 70% is collected through the final exam (written and multiple choice type)
- 20% is collected through case studies and group discussions managed in class
- 10% is collected through a project work

For non attending students, the final grade is determined exclusively by the result of a written exam (open questions type)
