Language requirements for Courses held in Italian

In order to have access to first, second or single-cycle degrees taught in Italian, all international students must have a certified knowledge of the Italian language with a minimum level of B2 or equivalent as an entry requirement . For the bachelor degree course in Sports Science, the Italian language proficiency must be of at least a B1 level or equivalent.

Language requirements for Courses held in English

Courses that are entirely taught in English, English language certification of at least B2 level or equivalent is required. For the master degree course in Management engineering, the English language proficiency must be of at least a B1 level or equivalent.

Language requirements for Courses having a national planned access

The language requirement is not decisive for the enrolment only for degree courses having a national planned access. However, a foreign student passing the admission test for a degree course having a national planned access, but lacking the required language certification shall be granted the possibility of obtaining the certification of achievement of the minimum level required until September 30th of the following year.

Italian Language Test

Foreign students or students who have foreign qualifications and who want to enrol at the University of Udine will be tested in the Italian Language.

Prospective students who will not need to be tested are:

a) Students with Italian citizenship;
b) Students who intend to enrol at degree courses that are entirely taught in English; 
c) Students who have an international Italian language certification of at least B2 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), that is issued by a certification authority, for instance University for foreigners of Perugia, University for foreigners of Siena, Roma Tre University and Società Dante Alighieri, Istituto Italiano di Cultura or by other institutions. Such certifications might be obtained in your Country of origin or in approved examination centres all around the world.

Useful Information on Italian Language Test

Prospective students who do not have the required language certificate, must take an online Italian language proficiency test.

The test of Italian language proficiency for access to the academic year 2024/2025 at the University of Udine will be held ONSITE on Thursday 19^th of September 2024 at 9.00 a.m. (written test) in class A022 and at 2.00 p.m. (speaking test)  in class A024, in Via delle Scienze 206, Udine.

In order to participate in the ITALIAN LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY TEST it is required a registration by e-mail to studenti@uniud.it with the indication of the name, the surname, the degree course, attaching a valid copy of the passport, no later than the 9^th of September 2024:

The University of Udine will also accept the CISIA TOLC@CASA Italian language test certification:

For access to UNIUD degree courses that require level B1 of knowledge of the Italian language, the minimum score required for the ITALIANO TOLC L2 test is from 47 to 48.

For access to UNIUD degree courses that require level B2 of knowledge of the Italian language, the minimum score required for the ITALIANO TOLC L2 test is from 49 to 61.
