Training Project

The PhD student's training project consists of:

a) in the development, under the guidance of the Supervisor, of an individual research programme referring to a specific disciplinary field among those on which the Course is focused;

b) attendance of doctoral-level teaching activities complementary to the research, not less than 26 CFU. The recognition of CFUs, which may be acquired by attending lectures and other educational activities, is carried out by the Board of Teachers, which authorises attendance and assesses the results. Teaching activities, which may also be organised jointly among several Courses, also include training activities aimed at supporting research activities and providing tools to outline the professional identity of future PhDs.

The PhD course in clinical and translational medical sciences provides for the acquisition of

AT LEAST 16 CFU

- 9 CFU with compulsory participation in activities organised by the Doctorate

- 7 CFU with participation in: Journal Clubs, Data Clubs and seminars in subjects related to the topics of the PhD programme organised by the Department of Medical Area, the University or external national and international Universities and Bodies

AT LEAST 5 CFU

- attendance of transversal activities proposed by the Training and Research Office of the University, in the following areas: Digital, Career Development, Communication, Enterprise and Research

5 CFU

- with attendance of the English for Academic Purpose course. The EAP course (transversal activity in the mobility area, organised by the Training for Research Office) is compulsory for all doctoral students who do not hold a valid English certificate of C1 level or higher

The individual research programme concludes with the writing of the thesis. The thesis, written in English, must contribute to the advancement of knowledge or methodology in the chosen field of investigation.

The Teaching Board assesses the training and research activities carried out by individual doctoral students on an annual basis with a view to admission to the following year.
