Educational objectives

The Course will give you knowledge and understanding of archeology, library science and history of art which provide employment as archaeologists, archivists, librarians, art historians in private and public institutions (museums, libraries, archives, research centers, foundations, publishing businesses, restoration centers, etc.). An important part of the Course also involves studying new technologies. There are four curricula: Archeology, Archiving-books, History of Art and Italian-French Studies (with Université Blaise Pascal in Clermont-Ferrand).
You can then find employment in archeology or processing archaeological data, archiving and libraries or the history of art. Other career prospects can be found in study groups, research units, and other initiatives aimed at the preservation of the historical-archaeological heritage, or in activities to promote research in archeology, archiving and library studies or history of art in education, publishing and tourism.

Professional opportunities

The degree can provide entry to employment and professional roles in the following fields:
- archeology (activities to provide assistance and support in the restoration and maintenance of monuments, archaeological photography, technical drawing for archaeology, operational functions on an excavation site, preparing samples for chemical and physical analyses, classifying and filing findings) or in the processing of archaeological data;
- archiving and libraries (activities relating to the archiving, cataloging and management of data within historical and contemporary archives, belonging to businesses, public libraries or documentation centers, but also in the publishing sector, the book trade and in communication, within cooperatives that manage the cataloging, organization or opening to the public of documentary collections, including for didactic purposes and generally to promote culture);
- history of art (professional activities on various levels within specific institutions, such as cultural heritage boards, museums, etc.; local bodies; service businesses and cooperatives that are active in the fields of cataloging, publishing, organizing exhibitions and cultural events, advertising and communication, including through social media, tourism and promotion of cultural heritage).
Other career prospects can be found in study groups, research units, and other initiatives aimed at the preservation of the historical-archaeological heritage, archives and library heritage, and history of art heritage, or in activities to spread and promote research in archeology, archiving and library studies or history of art in education, publishing and tourism.
